I mentioned in my last update that I was thinking of looking into Niri. Well I did it and I’ve been working with Niri for most of January now and am really liking it so far. I mostly just stuck with the config I used for Hyprland. I’m still using waybar and wofi with the same styling. I even used hyprlock, hypridle, etc. I’ve been solely focussed on playing around with Niri to see what makes it special.
It’s a new year and I’m finding myself planning out books I want to read and projects I want to complete. I guess it is the time of year for reflection and planning.
In years past I’ve put together a list of books that I want to try and complete for the year, allowing some room for spur of the moment decisions throughout the year. I usually at least complete the list of “new” reads I want to finish, but the “re-reads” tend to get left behind a bit.
I’ve been playing around with Hyprland for a couple weeks now. I was just going to experiment with it on my NixOS laptop, but decided I really needed to immerse myself in it more than that so I installed it on my main desktop as well. It has been a huge mental shift going from a typical stacking window manager to a tiling window manager. There is something about being able to quickly arrange and navigate your windows with just the keyboard that is exhilarating. It also had me looking up key bindings for some of my more used apps like VS Code so that I could avoid having to use the mouse.
